He was cute today. He hit Vanessa yesterday at Joe's by mistake and apologized. Today, he hit her again by mistake and when I asked him to apologize, he said "but I already said sorry yesterday". I laughed and explained that he needs to say sorry every time he hits Vanessa or anyone by accident, even if he had already said sorry. He said ok.
He was very conversational, especially with Vanessa. He pointed out everything that he did to Vanessa; they did some pretend play and he led Vanessa. He was in a good mood all the time. He even played with his Leapster toy and showed us what he did so we could be proud of him. He played with a variety of toys today. From swords to play dough to Leapster to drawing on paper. I have not seen pretend play with small toys in a few day. Although last night, when I was bathing them together, Vanessa was bathing a small baby and whenever she was done, she would drop him in the water and Jonathan would play that he was rescuing the baby with a toy net. Very cute.
We got the kids toy swords last week and they really enjoy playing with them. Jonathan tolerates getting hit with it quite well.
We went to the playground today and I forgot to put sunscreen on their faces. The poor kids got a bit of sunburn and Jonathan and Vanessa did not forget about it all day. I told them that we had to go home to put cream on their faces, and they immediately complied. I guess it bothered them that much.
Tia Michelle and tio Hugo came to visit tonight. The kids love playing with them. Michelle sat at their table and they all drew activities that they do during the day. It was fun to hear them play. The majority of the drawing in this picture were made by Jonathan (even the writing).
This was funny to watch. Jonathan drew himself, Vanessa and me with sunburn (the red marks on the cheeks and foreheads).
I took the kids bike riding today. We went to the local public school where Jonathan goes. They have a nice playground and it is close enough to walk there. One thing that I noticed and it gives me a bit of piece of mind is that Jonathan has learned to watch for cars coming, stops, looks carefully both ways and tells me that we can go. His grandmother has been working on this for a while and I had not realized until now that he has really mastered it. It is necessary for survival that he understands dangerous situations and what to do.
Today I decided that it was time for Vanessa to learn to go potty. I took her diaper off and told her that she had to go in the potty. It was stressful and Vanessa got very anxious when she couldn't hold it any longer. But Jonathan was great. He went to the bathroom and told Vanessa "look Vanessa, like me. You need to go pipi in the potty like me". That was such great thing. And when Vanessa finally went, and we all started screaming and applauding her, he came and hugged her and kissed her and said "you did it Vanessa" in a very excited voice. Very sweet.
