I have not had time to update the blog in almost a week. I changed my schedule around so I can exercise. I am getting up at 5am to make it to the Gym by 5:15am, which means that I am dead tired by 10pm. I usually update the blog at around 11pm. So I will start updating it earlier until my body adjusts.
The past 4 days have been interesting. They have definitely proven that Jonathan’s body works better when he is taking Dr. Yasko’s suggested set of supplements. I ran out of a few, and I could tell yesterday by the way he was talking that he is craving those supplements. So I drove to our local apothecary pharmacy today and picked up the supplements. We are going to the beach on Saturday for a week and I want him to be energetic and happy as he has been the past 2 months.
IEP Results
We met with the school teachers and therapists on Tuesday morning. The meeting went really well. The teachers and therapists all agreed that Jonathan’s improvements are very noticeable and that he should not go to a non-cat classroom. Jonathan will go to a mainstream kindergarden classroom with some LD assistance (Learning Disability support). We are going to meet with the teachers the last week of August to update them on how Jonathan is doing and to work on the observational checklists that will be created just for him. They will observe him closely for the first 2 weeks and let me know if they feel that he needs to be sent to a non-class classroom for a couple of hours a day or not. It all depends on Jonathan’s ability to regulate all the sensory input that will take place in a classroom with 24 other "neuro typical" kids. But my gut feeling tells me that he is going to be fine. He is going to be tired and at times overwhelmed, but he is going to do well.
Clostridia
His latest MAP urine test showed a high DHPPA marker which means that Jonathan most likely has Clostridia in his gut. It is controversial, but some researches have linked Clostridia to language delay. Yasko explains in her forum that clostridia binds to 2 genes in Chromosome 7, and recent studies show that duplications of genes in chromosome 7 cause language delay. So there is a large probability that one of the 2 chromosomes affected by clostridia is the one that affects language. Since not enough studies have been made to rule that out and we don't have time to wait for those clinical studies, and a round of antibiotics will not harm the child, we are going to treat it. Many kids have shown tremendous improvements once clostridia was killed.
Jonathan’s DAN! Dr. ordered an antibiotic to attack this terrible bacteria and we will start the protocol on Sunday. It is only for 10 days and I need to give him a lot of probiotics and enzyme support as well as GABA and charcoal flushes to help with the die-off effect. After that, I am going to do 1 month of Yasko’s Clostridia protocol and then order another MAP test. I have been told that it is very hard to kill it.
Blood Work Results
I don’t have all the results yet, but Jonathan’s Dr. emailed me and told me that his Glutathione level had raised (for the first time). I couldn’t be happier. That means that all this stuff IS WORKING. He is methylating and his body is making more glutathione on his own (I am not supplementing it). His liver is doing well, and all his other CBC counts are good. His zinc is still low in the blood plasma, but high in the urine test. So I am not sure why he is not absorbing it. My next quest: find out why his body is not absorbing zinc properly (besides chelation).
Overall Observations
Jonathan is doing really well. Despite some minor regressive behavior due to the lack of some supplements, he is still very happy, energetic, engaged and connected.
